Never Have I Ever...?

Interactive Game (2022)

👈

Project Overview & Motivation
A dynamic website showcasing an interactive game that sheds light on the challenges of "Lying Flat (躺平)" and "Involution (内卷)" as consequences of Asian education systems. Through engaging gameplay, players navigate the nuances of higher education competition, while also exploring "socioeconomic disparities" prevalent in Asian societies by focusing on Taiwan.
Problem ⇒ Solution
In many educational contexts across Asia, students grapple with toxic environments and depressive study cultures. Recognizing this pressing issue, I have undertaken the development of an interactive website that includes a game component aimed at aiding students in understanding the root causes of these challenges. By immersing themselves in the virtual experience, users gain insights into the systemic issues contributing to academic pressures and societal expectations, fostering greater awareness and empathy among players
Results
At the joint presentation in my department, my project was showcased, drawing a considerable crowd of individuals eager to engage with the game. I hadn't anticipated such a significant turnout or the depth of resonance the project would have with attendees. Witnessing their understanding of the underlying issues and their personal reflections inspired me to persist in developing and expanding my research on educational issues
My Contributions & Team
[ Individual project ] As my final project for the 'Global Issues in Asia' course, I chose to create a website instead of writing a paper. I thought it would be more effective to express my ideas through design. Professor Tzu-Chi Ou supervised my work, providing guidance and support throughout the process
